What is live betting?
Live betting is an exciting form of sports betting that has become very popular as an online service. Live betting combines the suspense of live sports events with the thrill of gambling. Live betting provides a mix of endless entertainment and – for the expert bettor – large potential returns.
Live bets are placed on sports games as they are still in progress. In live betting, the odds are adjusted over time depending on changes in the game score. If a team is behind, the odds adjust accordingly, sometimes by the second.
Live betting requires a good bit of intuition. In football (soccer), for example, the best betting results are achieved by guessing which team is going to shoot the next goal. The live betting odds are high when one team is behind 0:2 or 0:3 and a bet is wagered on a return goal by the losing team. This particular situation requires the live bettor to act quickly, since a goal by the losing team becomes more likely with every passing second and this, in turn, drives down the live betting odds.
When you learn to bet online, it's important, as in real life, that you define a clear set of goals and guidelines. Instead, if you start uncontrolled betting with high stakes to make up for the losses, or if you bet regularly without any clear aim, things will most likely not go the way you expect.
Below are a few general pointers to help you become a more successful gambler:
- Set Up a Betting Fund
First and foremost, you need to set up your betting fund. This should be the money that you are always prepared to lose. One very important rule is that you never borrow money for betting! Never attempt to make up for your lack of money in life by betting. You also need to establish your goal in terms of profit. How much money will you need to be satisfied? If you deposit €50 and end up with €500, you should withdraw the €450 profit and leave your original deposit in the account. By doing this, you will actually notice the benefit of your efforts. Until you withdraw it, money that remains in your account belongs to your bookie and not to you! - Keep a Record of Your Bets
Keep a record of every bet you have. This may seem like a burden at first, but it will ultimately encourage a more disciplined in your betting habits. It will also help you capitalize on the areas where you are strongest. - Specialize in Specific Events
If you become knowledgeable about a particular horse race or sport, this could give you an edge over other punters, and possibly even over the bookmaker, and allow you to spot value where errors have been made in setting the odds. - Stay in Control
The most important thing that you need if you want to beat the bookie is self-control. If you start winning, don't immediately raise your stakes and start taking irrational risks. Withdraw any money that you plan to win and keep betting only with your original deposit. And when you hit a losing streak, don't get upset. Stay calm and continue with your tried-and-tested betting strategy.
